Staff Notes

In the Winter of 2025/2026, the Atlanta Regional Commission conducted a solicitation for Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) project funding proposals that support the goals and objectives of the 2050 Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP). Selected projects will receive federal funding from the Surface Transportation Block Grant Program (STBG), which requires a 20% local funding match. The City of Powder Springs submitted an application for the Austell Powder Springs Road and Marietta Street/Powder Springs Road Intersection Improvements project on January 23rd, 2026. As part of the application, a letter is required stating that the City will serve as the official project sponsor and will commit the required local funding match if the project is awarded funds through this solicitation.
