Staff Recommendation: APPROVAL Planning and Zoning Recommendation:

BACKGROUND: House Bill 1500 (as passed by the house and senate), was sponsored by Representative Wilkerson of the 38th District. The bill was to be entitled to amend an Act creating a new charter for the City of Powder Springs, approved March 13, 2 1970 (Ga. L. 1970, p. 2760), as amended, so as to adopt by reference a certain map to update the boundaries of the city; to provide for related matters; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.

ANALYSIS:
The application was reviewed against the following criteria:


a. Whether the proposed zoning district and uses within that district are compatible with the purpose and intent of the comprehensive plan. The future development map and the future land use plan map of the city's comprehensive plan shall be used in decision making relative to amendments to the official zoning map.
The City of Powder Springs' 2021 Comprehensive Plan's Annexation Plan element has a goal to reduce unincorporated islands, and to expand the incorporated limits of the city.

b. Whether the proposed zoning district and uses permitted within that district are suitable in view of the zoning and development of adjacent and nearby property.
